Hello to all,
with airodump-ng I see the list of available wifi, and there is a wifi with ESSID = <lenght: 0>, so I know that this wifi is hidden. No problem.

But airodump-ng tell me also:
Channel: -1
Power: -1

What is this ??

How can I get the channel...

That's an obvious no. Switch your AP to b/g.

So, what happened here is that airodump-ng caught a frame coming from a client to the AP (and based on that, it can show the AP BSSID).
And that means you're way to far to see/hear the AP, you need to get closer to it.

use the code from svn, then make a difference between 2 revisions: r2903 and r2904.

Subversion manual can help you do that.

everything worked good for me for hostapd-wpe
hostapd-wpe /etc/hostapd-wpe/hostapd-wpe.conf

Then when I went to
zcat /usr/share/wordlists/rockyou.txt.gz
everything went south,.

This post lacks outputs, errors and there is no link whatsoever between what you're doing with zcat and hostapd-wpe.

Hostapd-wpe works just fine for me.

There is no need to change your mac when using the different tools, just FYI

Could you do a capture on the 'lo' interface using tcpdump while running airodump-ng. When it crashes, stop tcpdump and post the capture file here.
